Yes, Gold strings offer potential for the best guitar tone you can imagine and unparalleled durability.  In these sets the plain/non-wound strings are made from nickel-plated steel which are then coated in 24k gold.  The wound strings use a tinned-steel hex core with a gold-plated braided wrap wire.

What do they sound like in the real world?  Amazing!  They have a natural resonant brilliance unlike anything I’ve heard and full, rich, and warm tone.
