So when you hear solo's, by your favourite band Know someone is shredding, with no guitar in their hands

Manifesting hard core, blues, metal and rock Not caring if they look like a prize farmyard cock

Strutting and kicking and strumming air strings Who knows why people do such crazy things

Are YOU! Guilty of Air Guitar? Who hasn’t picked up a, hockey stick, tennis racket, broom, mop or other implement and either used it like either a gun or a guitar? Who has been listening to a great widely guitar track and resisted the temptation to wiggle those fingers during a great solo? And I’m quite sure everyone’s been at a pub gig watching those guys mimic the solo break and head bangin at the front stage. Well there is a great big fraternity out there, that needs no implement or excuse to finger wiggle the solo parts , they take it to the next level without resistance and shame. In the UK? There are a couple of  "official" air guitar competitions in the UK. The first is The UK Air Guitar Championships (UKAG) and this was the original one, started in 1994. This one differs from the other competition, as the audience are the judge. The second competition was started in 2006 and called, Air Guitar UK Championships (AGUK). This was started by the twice winner of the original competition. Men only? You’d be forgiven for thinking it was just men too, there are tons of girls doing it too and there is a worldwide championship for the craze. God only knows the genetic markers of an air guitar hero or is it lack of guitar ability mixed with desire to rock out, just be thankful that you can play guitar or you could be numbered in the frenzied craze that is air guitar love. Secret guitarist? I wonder if some of those guys and girls actually do play? Perhaps its just the exhibitionist drive that pulls these crazy guitar wannabe’s from the armchair to the stage. Gimmicks?
