The HIFI DNA pickup system was created through an immense collaboration between Baggs and Gibson. The system comprises two pickups, each with independent preamps that are blended to reproduce an outstandingly accurate representation of your guitar’s natural, acoustic tone.
This pickup system’s two sensors are individually calibrated for high and low frequencies with custom-voiced, dedicated studio‑quality preamps for each. The signals are then combined and blended into a single output. The order of this signal chain (re)produces the natural breath and voice of your guitar without any of the muddiness sometimes associated with internal mic’ing.
Lloyd Baggs says: “Each sensor has its own preamp stage before they’re blended, which keeps both signals pristine. If you combine two mic diaphragms – or two piezos – before amplification, they tug on each other, and the sound can get muddy. Separating them preserves every detail.”
