DR Handmade Strings, brainchild of Al Dronge, founder of Guild Guitars and passed onto his son Mark Dronge, is a company that takes pride in producing handmade strings on a big scale in a market where machines are increasingly more prominent.  DR Handmade Strings consider handcrafted strings, American made, with American materials often more accurate and consistent than machine made and also re-established the importance of round core strength. Dr Handmade Strings introduced the first colour-coated strings in 2001 advancing to NEON coating strings in 2010 with the Black Beauties range of literally black-coloured strings are the most popular.  DR Strings also produce DDT drop-down tuning sets are optimised for low tuning retaining tuning, stability and tension.
