Back in the day female guitarists in the rock and metal genre seemed few and far between but this was not actually the case. It may have been they were overlooked as the men all kinda looked like women with their hair and spandex.

There have been tons of female virtuoso Violin players so it stands to reason they are out there you just have to find them.

Kristian Kolar Sheryl Crow, I mean, she doesn't rock hard or do crazy Ionian solos or something like that, but she did in fact gained some popularity and she is pretty decent to be mentioned under female guitarists. Zoe Thomson as probably the youngest guitarist mentioned. She is definitely worth mentioning because she rocks on guitar and, excluding covers, songs with her band are awesome for 9-year olds.
