They have a great feel and tension. The tone is great on the G,D and A strings but a little undefined on the E.
As a side note, the nut of my bass needed a little filing for the strings to fit - but I do have an unusual bass (Dan Armstrong London short scale) so I don't know how much any other short scale would be affected. Also, my bass has just a single, angled wraparound bridge with very little intonation adjustment. With these strings, bridge cannot be angled far back enough on the E string side for proper intonation - all frets above 3rd being noticeably sharp. It's only the E string that suffers and I suspect basses with better, more adjustable bridges would be fine. It's more of a problem with the bass than the strings but worth considering should you be changing from thin round wounds to these with a one-piece bridge.
