CTS pots have been used in guitars for decades (since the '50s) and are still the factory standard for brands such as Fender and Gibson. All CTS potentiometers are American made and have rock-solid, tried and tested design that delivers smooth sweeps transitions.
Which pot do you need? The really important factors are resistance value, type of taper and bushing/shaft length.
Resistance Value 250k - typically used for single coil pickups (Strats, Teles, P-Bass etc...) 500k - typically used for humbuckers: the large resistance value has a brighter sound 1M - can be used to further brighten humbuckers, although not particularly common
Taper Taper refers to the rate at which the pot will affect your tone. Linear taper decreases or increases the resistance in an equal ratio which is perfect for tone pots. A logarithmic taper (often called Audio taper) affects the resistance exponentially which is the natural way humans perceive volume changes - use Audio taper for volume pots.
Bushing/Shaft Length This refers to the threaded portion of the shaft and needs to of adequate length for your instrument. In most cases, the standard length will work fine but certain guitars like Les Pauls or thick top guitars you should use the long version.
