Imagine being able to get the sound of a cranked Marshall JTM45 stack in anything less than a cranked Marshall JTM45 stack… well, the Wampler Plexi-Drive does just that, and it’s amazing!  The Marshall sound has been the icon of rock tone since the early 60’s and relied on for decades by rock legends such as Jimi Hendrix, Jimmy Page, Joe Perry and Eric Clapton.

Wampler has worked to recreate the classic tones of these rock heroes in a standard-sized, compact pedal which resulted in a pedal that has a completely unique gain structure that is capable of reproducing the variety of drive tones.  In a stroke of genius the Wampler guys added a bass boost option to the Plexi-Drive which adds the low-end thump of a 4x12 cab when playing at low volume.

Marshall in a box?  Marshall trying to rip out of your pedalboard, I say!!

What Wampler say:

“Since the early 60’s, Marshall Amplifiers® have lead the way in rock tones with its legendary tight overdrive and coveted bass response. Early rock legends such as: Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, Cream, and AC/DC helped lead the way in creating some of the most iconic rock tones ever produced and catapulted Marshall Amplifiers® into the icon of rock tone.

With these huge influential musicians and tones in mind, we sat down and designed a pedal that could help tone chasers produce the same guitar tones as those rock heroes.

The Plexi-Drive’s unique gain structure is capable of running the tonal rock gamut. From bluesy style 18-watt Marshall tones to the all out massive rock tones of a JTM-45® cranked to ten (preferably 11), the Plexi-Drive can handle it all with ease. Along with the volume, gain and perfectly placed tone control, the additional bass boost option allows the player to emulate the feeling of the low-end thump of having a 4×12” cabinet (or two) at the flick of a switch. This becomes really useful when playing at lower volumes.

To this day, the Plexi-Drive is still one of our favorite pedals and is never far from Brian’s personal pedalboard. For a man who is said to be never satisfied with his tone, the Plexi-Drive has stayed with him throughout and is still inspiring him year after year.

Your search for the perfect simple M.I.A.B. (Marshall® in a Box) can finally be over. The Plexi-Drive will give you the crunch, response, and feeling that your rig begs for. Whether you are playing sold out shows or rocking out by yourself – the Plexi-Drive will inspire you to create your own flavor of rock!”

From humble beginnings of modding pedals to today with full fledge production of his original designed boutique pedals – Brian Wampler, CEO of Wampler Pedals, Inc. is helping create some of the world’s best guitar tones – one tone filled pedal at a time.Brian first and foremost is a guitar player and has always been a “gear nut” – constantly trying different guitars, amps, pedals, and every combination thereof - always with the same goal of trying to achieve the best tone possible! The quest for great tones has been a life long endeavor that started from the time Brian was a kid watching his older brother’s band practice “Don’t Tell Me You Love Me” over and over. Almost a decade later, Brian is still creating some of the world’s best guitar tones from his own boutique guitar pedal company. So why build guitar pedals for a living? In the beginning - every pedal on the market that Brian played just wasn’t producing the tones he was longing for. So instead of being unhappy with stock tones, he started tweaking and modding pedals here and there to get close to the tones he kept hearing in his head.
Ultimately, the tweaked pedals weren’t making the cut either and Brian started making brand new designs that didn’t sound like anything on the market – as a result Wampler Pedals was born and the rest as they say is history. With a great selection of current products and more new arrivals coming all the time, Brian Wampler continues to introduce world-class guitar tone to great guitar players. The process from guitar pedal creation to its release is sometimes a lengthy one however.

The pedal ultimately goes through a series of tests before others can enjoy it to. Brian tests his pedal prototypes through a plethora of guitars and amps before releasing it into the wild to insure each new pedal sounds good with a wide variety of guitar rig setups. The pedals then get played in a live situation, and once completely satisfied – they are manufactured right here in the United States in our facility in Paducah, KY.

Brian has put together an incredible team to ensure that every pedal that we make is as high quality as if he made it himself. Each pedal is built with the highest standards and best component parts possible to insure a lifetime of hard use on the road and in the studio. Brian also prides himself on customer service and has assembled an administrative staff in his hometown of Martinsville, IN to provide some of the best customer support in the industry.
