The G7th Performance capo is a completely new approach to capo design. It has none of the disadvantages of conventional capos, but instead offers enhanced performance and is simple to use. Not only that, it looks and feels great! The designer, Nick Campling, says... " I've struggled to find a capo I can live with for the best part of 30 years. They all either pulled my guitar out of tune, were fiddly to adjust, or they got in the way of my hand. Some just didn't work! The G7th Performance Capo is a result of combining my product design skills with my needs as a guitarist".

This is a great piece of kit, works a treat, worth the money. More importantly if all products were as good as the service from Paul and the team at Strings direct then we would surely be living in heaven.

Frankly, I am one of those people who prefer not to use a capo at all - I see it as a personal failure if I have to use the capo to play a song in the right key! After all the guitar was designed to be played with the strings a certain length. That said, like all guitarists, I use a capo form time to time. Over the years I have used Shubb, Kaiser, Dunlop - I even once used a pencil and an elastic band!
My biggest problem with capos has been is that they can interfere with my left hand as I try to finger some chords. I thought I'd give this one a try - the design is very good, the capo is "discreet" enough not to get in the way, and the mechanism allows me to adjust the tension as I put the capo on [rather than an either on or off approach you get with some other capos]. I can't say I've had it long enough to make any comments on durability, but build quality seems good, and it is certailny easy enough to use. 25 quid though is expensive. Were it cheaper, I'd probably but one for each of my guitars rather then buying just one and losing the flipping thing all the time!
Would I recommend it? - on balance I think it's probably the best out there at the moment.

not the best capo

This Capo looks great and one would hope that it would do the job: I was recommended it by Scottish guitarist Anna Massie who uses it on her Gurian. I bought in order to solve low E-string buzz on my Guild D35 that I was getting with Schubb capos which otherwise are the business for me. But no, as some other reviewers have noted it is difficult to get the low E right without really clamping hard. And that, I thought, was the whole point. And given that the main partner in the project other than the designer is a Taylor retailer Iw as really disappointed that the same problem was there on my 414CE (so you can't blame the problem on a 28 year old neck!). On the other side, their customer service is excellent - they changed the capo no questions asked (sent me a new one before they got the old one back) to see if it was defective. Sadly not...

simply the best

Without doubt. No tuning probs, looks great and doesn't feel like a piece of hand strengthening gym equipment when applying it to the strings!

Great, but not very durable

Bought this capo a month or so ago. Overall very impressed, does exactly as it says. However, the release catch isn't very strong, dropped mine and half of it snapped off, very annoying. Still works fine, but they could have made it a bit more durable, capo's need to be able to survive being dropped on the floor!

Which is better this or a Trigger Capo?

Love all the guages except the 3rd

These strings are almost perfect. The windings are so fine compared to anything else i've tried, they're extremely comfortable and they sound brilliant. I always wanted a set of heavy strings with a plain 3rd but i don't think a 024 works as a plain string. It's so stiff you could make a coat hanger out of it! I'd like suggest a 020. Then they'd be the best set of strings in the world (for me anway)!

Fantastic, couldn't be happier

I have not had a problem with this capo at all, it is easily the best I've owned. Simple to clip on and tighten, and unlike the review below I have no string buzz at all. I'm using 10-46 and 10-52 guage strings on my guitars, and they all work flawlessly with this. Yes, it is priced high, but if you're looking for a performance capo that is easy to get on and off you've found it. Highly recommended!

nearly there, but not yet

Good concept, but hard to get a hard enough bite to stop string buzz, I use light strings and a low action. Also seems to pull bass off tune, but could be a conlflict with the radius of my Ovations neck. Looks great, very nearly, but not quite there.

The best capo!

This capo is stylish and sleek. It doesn't pull stings out of tune and has no ugly handle sticking out. It is worth the money and is better that any other capo I've tried.

OK, But...

On the plus side, it's very stylish - looks like something designed by Porsche. Darned solid, too. On the minus side, I found it tricky to adjust it to just the right tension, and it is no better at keeping strings in tune than any other quality capo. Expensive, too. I'm also a little concerned about what happens when the rubber wears, as there doesn't seem to be any way of replacing it.

This capo is the business without question does what it say's it does. The G7th company are also great to deal with should you have a problem with your capo which is unlikely. I droped mine and the release catch broke, G7th replaced it without any problem all I had to do was return it with proof of purchase and the day after I had a new one by return post. What other company would offer this service Excellent product and Company go get one now!!!
