DR Black Beauties Coated Electric Guitar Strings

The K3™ coating is the first coating that players report, “sounds as good or better than uncoated strings.” DR’s new, remarkable, proprietary and patent pending K3™ Technology Coating is the first coating that makes no apologizes and no excuses for not delivering sound equal to uncoated strings. Players tell us that these strings have more volume, less unwanted overtones, greater clarity and articulation then standard, uncoated strings. Yet, they provide the same protection due to corrosion and perspiration as well as increased tone life that coated strings are known for.  These strings are wound on a hexagonal core.

Always used DRs, moved from tite-fit to hi-beams and the DDT recently. Thought I'd try these on one guitar for the look. It looked amazing. The coating does fray quite quickly on some set-ups and I lost quite bit applying to a floyd rose trem due to the string pull through but I didn't expect it to remain intact forever. Unfortunately the sound is quite dull compared to other DRs which tend to be unusually bright. It gives a very 'woody' bass response, which may suit some players who hate the 'ringing' brightness and want a very hard, dull crunch, but I found these look the part for rock/metal - but they are too opaque for any distinction on chords. Worth trying if you like the look but I won't be using again as it's not quite my sound.

Well I read the reviews and really liked the sound of these, but I had some bad luck on the electric ones i ordered, a string pinged out the sleeve and is somewhere on the carpet. I have no idea where it is but to top it off the 1st string snapped on minimal tightening- wasted my money really! Would I buy them again,? Maybe but not bloody 9's, I need something that is tronger and stands out from the carpet!

Have used these just about every day for a couple of months now. They still feel as good as new though there are a couple of nicks in the coating, so if I was really fussy I'd have to say they don't quite look as good as new - but only on close inspection. OK they cost about three times as much as a normal set, but they've already lasted about three times as long - and I haven't had the arse of having to change them! Love the feel, love the sound, love the looks. I'd say they're worth it.

These are pretty damn good strings. I ordered these a few days ago, and now that they're on my guitar I'm well impressed. The coating dosen't change any of the strings tonal qualities, and they look awsome. They're a metal guitarists dream. The only downside is that if you play the strings hard, or if strum with speed, the coating does ware out in the places that you have hit the strings. Still, great strings, a must buy for all of you metal lovers.
