1 Rotosound Rotos ROCK

Can't remember why I first tried these, for my first string-change after taking up electric guitar about a year ago, but I sure am glad that I did. Firstly the Yellows sound really good - striking just the right tonal balance. I tried other strings - some at more than twice the price, but haven't found a single set that sound as good or stay in tune as well or aid with a good set up (low action without buzz!), even Rotosound's own more expensive nickels! Secondly the Blues are a sweet tonal match for my second electric guitar - an Ibanez arch-top. I'm pleased about the free top e string as well... Although I haven't broken a string while playing yet, I know it's only a matter of time! I have, however, broken 2 top e strings while changing strings: 1 on the Ibanez (my fault) and 1 on my electro-acoustic (weak Martin string!), so having the spares was a god-send! :o) From all the strings I've tried the Rotos are my favourites by a huge margin. Don't be fooled by the low price. I certainly won't be "experimenting" with new strings again. These are simply superb.
5 Reliable and long-lasting...

The coolest thing about roto's I thought was that they give you a free top e string, especially as, over the years I have bust hundreds of them (various gauges). I have used strings by Ernie Ball, Gibson, GHS, Dean Markley and Rotosound over the past 22 years of playing. All of these strings claimed long-lasting tone, or virtual unbreakability (for a while anyway), except Rotosound, who just made them, packed them and gave me a free high e (which worried me, but I tried them anyway - all the other makes broke too much anyway). In Rotos I found (initially 9 gauge) a set which NEVER BROKE! Over the past 9 years I have used them exclusively (along with Strings Direct - who get them to me the next morning) and have NEVER broken one string. I have used 9/10/11 gauge and different mixes (like Blues). As a result I have a huge collection of spare top e strings which I share out with my mates every now and again!!! You can bend really wild and far with these, no problem, and the tone stays for a long time... I am using 10's for standard tuning and 11's for low tune at present. No problems...
5 Best Strings I have ever used - British too!

I have confess that for the first year I was paying through the nose and fitting the Gibson Brite-wires to my Les Paul (the same it came fitted with). However, decided to give the Rotosounds a go and not only are they better value, but they last longer and sound just as good as the Gibbo's did and at almost half the price! Now every guitar I have runs Rotosounds (acoustics included).
3 Not Good on a Lag Jet

I own a lag jet JM100 guitar and the strings keep on going on out tune. Don't go for theese, go for something like d'adrios. Theese strings are rubbish!

These strings are awesome. I tune the Blues down to Drop C and replace the .52 with a .56 makes low string a bit tighter and sound a better. no problems with keeping them in tune (although i did have Sperzel locking tuners installed on my ESP EX-400 when i first used them)... anyway, first time i've used them and i'll keep using them 5 GUITARS OUT OF 5!!!
5 By a mile my FAVOURITES!

Rotosound make the best strings in my opinion. I use the 10-46 and 11-48 gauges and the are superb. Tonally they are a bit mellower than most nickel plated strings but they are are still bright and last for ages. Other string brands I have tried are as follows: GHS boomers, dave gilmour signtaure and nickel rockers, Dadarrio, Ernie Ball, DR Tite-fit and Dimebag signature strings, Picato, Gibson brite wires, Elixir anti rust, and probably come others i can't think of. Rotosound beat all ofthese other strings hands down for me and its pleasing to know they are made in England aswell.
5 Perfect on my Tele's

Roto Blues....Best strings I've ever played, for ALL the same reasons listed above...... I used to like Picato, but these Blues have always blown away any others I've used..... Buy them, you won't be disapointed !
5 Good Tone Long lasting
Joel
i get the orange ones, what i can say is that they have a good tone, i was playing with some who had some other make of strings and the roto sounded a lot thick more rock and roll. i have them on a les paul, i dont know how they would be on something with a tremlo but i will find out soon
5 Pleasantly surprised
Paulie
I've used Dean Markley strings for nearly twenty years. That was until my local music store stopped selling American strings. They now only stock Rotosound and I have been blown away by the difference they make to my sound. I use pinks and yellows and they have a much fuller sound than the DMs and they stay brighter for longer.
5 Best Around
Jbop
I use Roto's for electric acoustic and bass and I just can't fault them. They sound great, are more durable tha most strings and I now have 4o plus spare e-strings!!! None of the other brands I've tried compare
5 Rotosound - the best on the market
Ken Morton
Say it out loud: "Rotosound" ... Ahh that is comforting! Its a British brand I've admired for 35 years. I've tried ALL other string brands and keep coming back to Rotosounds again and again. They never let me down, sound great, feel great and I rely on them totally for recording gigging & practising. Plus they are great value compared to USA strings because, being British made, there's no import duty hidden in the retail price!! When you buy USA Strings you could be paying around £1 more than you need to, per pack.
5 In the pink
Ceri Shields
I love the guy, below, who's wondering whether they are actually pink, yellow or whatever. Now that would be tasty, wouldn't it? Sadly, you've to pay quite a lot more for that facility - but it can be done! Meanwhile: trying out a set of Pinks in place of Fender Super Bullets. Admittedly, I'm light on the wammy, but the intonation seems just fine without the bullet end. Shame Strings Direct don't stock Rotosound singles: they do 'em, why can't we buy 'em?

Ive chopped and changed between strings over the years. These have been my favorites for some years.
5 tough stuff!
joe
I'm using 9-42 and they are tough as nails! with regular cleaning i can get 2 months out of them. I haven't snapped one for a VERY long time (unlike certain expensive brands) and i'm very hard on guitars! I've just switched back to rotosound because they are so reliable and very hard to break, which is what you need for gigs. great stuff!

I stumbled on them by accident. I was using another brand and one particular time my local shop didnt have the guage I use. I tried the rotos and they were much better, lasted longer, dont break and sound better. I gig lots, teach guitar for a living so good strings are important to me. In 26 years of playing electric guitar, Rotos are the best Ive used.
5 changed my life!

after spending years snapping ernie balls and d'addarios i finally tried rotosounds. rotosound blues allow me to shred my heart out and the heavy bottoms add extra beef to rhythm playing. and i've never snapped a string, so i'm getting a nice stockpile of extra e strings. nice one rotosound, makes me proud to be british.
5 Believe the performance, not the hype!
Pádraig Floyd
I have been using Rotosound since they were very unfashionable in the late 80s, and compared to so many other strings, they are superb. They may not be the best (hedging my bets) but they feel great, sound great, last for ages and are damned bloody hard to break. In the last 10 years, I have only broken one string. <br/>Blues are my favourite as they can turn an ordinary guitar into something more playable. They can deliver tone where the pickups lack quality. In fact, not only do I like the gauge, but compared to ither makes of heavy 10s, there are no equals in my opinion. I really can't fault them.
5 You must buy these Strings
Stuck
There made in England - What more reason than that is there to buy em! <br/>
5 The yellows are great.
Gavin O'Mahony
I have tried a lot of major makes of string and found the yellows to be the best by far. They last well, don't break and our lead guitarist uses them as well. Say no more!
5 Think Pink...
Jude
Like a lot of people, I always loved Ernie Ball's Slinky strings, but found them fragile (and I do tend to get carried away on stage). Changed to Rotosound Pinks in the early 90s, and have never ever been persuaded away from them. Rotos can take the Pepsi challenge with any string costing five times the price, nothing competes with them at any level in my opinion...
5 exceptional value
james
when i first began playing guitar i always used ernie balls, but after too many broken strings, i tried rotos. i've now been using roto blues for 6 years, and in that time, ive broken maybe 4 strings. durable, great sounding, affordable, and a free high 'e'?! roto, surely you're spoiling us?
5 pink?

R they acutualy pink ? some on review it and say wether its pink or not
5 Great strings, great price...

Ive used these strings for a long while, good tone/sound, good value, to the guy asking about colour each colour just represents a diferent gauge, nothing to do with colour, there jsut regular strings, if at a special price...
5 THE BEST

Quite simply the best guitar string around. Punchy, warm, bell like tone - they never break and always sound great with a clean sound or over driven sound. Note definition is superb. I have used them for years - the best.

i have used roto yellows on all my guitars for several years now. they are punchy and dynamic and stay that way for ages- plus i have never broken one! i don't even consider other brands anymore.

Well, to be honest, they are rotosounds, which means they will always outclass other brands. These (the yellows) just sparkle and are so versatile it is untrue. They certainly beefed up my Les Paul!

I only use rotosound strings, they are excellent quality, and last a while without losing their sound.
5 Nice set of strings
Mark
22 April 2003
A nice set of strings with a nice crisp tone that lasts longer than other brands I've tried (Fender, D'Addario, Ernie Ball). Although the claim that they do not break is not entirely true (just broke a 036) the plain strings last considerably longer than the afforementioned brands' equivalents, whilst the wound strings keep that nice tone for longer too. Free 1st makes them quite economical into the bargain. All recyclable packaging as well - which is a good thing.

yeh..my favourite. <br>dont get dull as quick as a d'addrio and never ever break...ive got about 20 spare 1st strings!
5 They never break
Graham
28 January 2003
These are my favourite strings. Great tone and feel they dont rust (unlike Ernie Balls, which i found the top strings did pretty quick). You get an extra 1st string which is great but you won't use it because you won't break it, unless you try of course
4 good

They have got an exellent tone to them but but after about 2 months of playing the 6th string (the one at the top) sounds dull, (to fix this remove it and put it in boiling water for about 10 mins,) otherwise they are the best strings i've ever used. <br> <br>munky (not from Korn) aged 15
5 I've switched my allegiance, from Roto Oranges!
Graham
20 March 2003
If you notice I wrote a review for the Roto Oranges and was a constant player of them. Well when I went to get a new set from my local there wasn't any so I decided to try the D'Addario equivalant. Mistake. They cost me more and the 6th string died pretty quickly and the rest followed soon after. So on my return to said local I found still no Oranges so I tried these. They are amazing! They sound even better than the Oranges and have all the advantages of them and probably all Rotosound; never break or rust and the tone lasts for longer than any other strings i've played(which is quite a few to say the least). Although I love the Oranges i'l be buying these from now on. Lets hear a cheer for Rotosound and England!
1 Ain't Rotosound brilliant!

I've used Rotosound yellows on my SG for a long time. They are easily as good as Gibson and cheaper. buy them. Now! <br>
5 Rich Solid Twang
Clive - The Hydras
04 July 2004
Rotosound - Legendary tone and reliability. Superb strings. I use these for mainly rhythm playing on a piezo-equipped Tele for that fat bottom end and Roto Yellows on a Thinline. They have a great piano-like twang on the wound strings and a solid ping on the top strings. Excellent value for money and deserving of their quality reputation.
1 NOT GOOD
Jonathan barry
Rotosound Pinks: I found these hard to keep in tune and the intonation had to be changed drastically especially on the D string. Every few years I say &quot; I must try Rotosound again&quot; to see if they have improved, as I would like to buy British, but these are just useless - sorry!
5 These don't need another good reveiw but heres one anyway!
Tom
Absolutely amazing strings, i use the blues and they are phenomenal! Buy these if you know whats good for you!

Yes, I have also found that these strings make your fingers smell rather awkward. I use Fast Fret on mine, but you can also use Fairy liquid to clean them up
