RRP £85. The CS-3 compresses high-input signals while boosting low-input signals, giving you smooth sustain without degrading the quality of the original sound. A range of effects from gentle compression to squeezed sounds is at your command. Designed for outstanding low-noise performance, the CS-3 also provides EQ for precise sonic control.

GOOD COMPRESSION
12 October 2008
Yes, this is a good compressor/sustainer.
I've had mine for almost twenty years and it is still working! (the battery circuit is now knackered though). There are many good settings to be had from it, it can also be set up to be used as a limiter: attack and sustain set at 9 o'clock, tone where you want and level where you want. I put this in a Marshall 100watt top effects loop once; turn the level on the CS-3 right down to start with and turn the amp up to where it saturates best and then SLOWLY turn up the CS-3 level. My normal setting for this pedal is ATTACK between 9 - 12 o'clock, SUSTAIN between 10 - 1 o'clock, TONE between 12 - 2 o'clock, LEVEL 12 o'clock.
For country and funk, nah! use an MXR Dyna Comp.
Pedaldoc
Very cheap pedal and it sounds good. I modified it though using a Pedaldoc kit. Much better and professional sound now. I just used it to record my second Cd and the sound technitian wanted to borrow it to examine the mod I did.

<br/>Get yourself one and a nice kit to modify it. Lots of companies in the net selling kits. I just tried Pedaldoc and it went very well but I have also heard of a guy called Keeley who seems to mod the pedals himself (no need to install the kit yourself).
Great if you like the sound
The CS-3 has a definite sound. If you like that sound then great, but if you want a transparent compressor look elsewhere (and I'm afraid spend more money). Lots of country pickers use these to get that squashy snappy chicken picking sound, Vince Gill would be a good example. Other than that, it is a Boss pedal so build quality and reliability are guaranteed. One more thing, at higher settings it can get a bit noisey, but that is the same with most comps and also you shouldn't really be going to those extremes IMO if you're using compression properly. It is very good value, and if you want to use it as a basis for modding there are many mods available to turn it into something special.
Best compressor by far

this is excellant, can be used either to make your rhythm crisp and straight, or as a boost clean or overdriven for solos
Great compressor

This really is the dogs. For the money you won't get a better compressor, it is very adaptable and can cope with a wide range of styles and uses, try it out and see how much more professional it can make you sound.
great quality for price

I really like this pedal even though it only got delivered a few hours ago. Does anyone know any good settings for the controls though? Please email them to me.
