2 Planet Waves locking guitar strap.

Well, after misplacing my original 'old design" planet waves lock guitar strap at a gig, I decided to replace it. I was aware that the lock ends seemed to be redesigned, but thought nothing of it and proceeded to purchase. As Dave R has stated, it is advertised as being able to fit almost any guitar. I have seven electrics, and the new strap fits on only one of them! If you own any Ibanez or Jackson guitars, please double check before you buy to avoid disappointment. It does however, fit on my Dean guitar so at least it's not a total waste. Bring back the old design Planet Waves! Oh, I almost forgot, the new strap is also significantly shorter than the old design, so don't bother if you wanna look like Jimmy Page.
1 Locking guitar strap wrecked my guitar

Theoretically a great idea, but the strap ends are extremely rigid, which means on many guitars they act on the strap buttons in much the same way as a claw hammer. It took 3 weeks for this strap to pull out the endpin on the horn of my Ibanez, and when I came to replace it (with a much bigger screw), I found that it had already loosened the other button. I've reverted to Di Marzio straps.
4 Planet Waves Locking Guitar Strap

This locking strap works perfectly for light weight electric guitars. I currently use this on a standard fender Stratocaster shaped guitar. If you are looking to use this on a heavy guitar I think it can hold a up to 100lbs (45kg) before the locking ends will break. There is a more durable version of this strap available which is more expensive but has better locking ends and feels more comfortable during play. Overall, for use with a standard guitar, it is secure and trustworthy. Personally, I would not use this on a heavy guitar, I would use the more durable version of this strap from Planet Waves (which I have and use).
3 PLANET LOCK GUITAR STRAP

I've been looking for the perfect, fit-anything, locking guitar strap for years. I'm still looking. The Planet Waves info says it fits virtually any guitar. But it wouldn't fit any of the first three instruments I tried it on. Two had endpin jack sockets hooked up to piezo saddle pickups. They were different makes of pickup - one quite well known so this might be a common problem with electro acoustics. The third, a well known slim archtop, had buttons that fit the strap but the neck button was situated on the side of the guitar too close to the neck for the rigid strap ends to fit. Planet Waves say that if it doesn't fit they will supply you with an endpin or strap button that it will fit. But how many people will bother to respond to an American address to take them up on that and in any case, there is no point if your endpin is also your pickup jack socket or if the factory fitted strap pin fits but is just in the wrong place for the bulky strap end. I kept it because I had one other guitar that it did fit. Unfortunately, one I never use. Shame because it feels like a neat idea.
