I used to play a (fab) Oakwood Mandolin and used standard D'Addarios (11's), which were great. A few years ago I bought one of Dave Gregory's fantastic 'F' style Mandolins, but wasn't convinced the standard D'Addarios were what suited it best. Tried these FT74's- perfect! Worth every extra penny! Fab tone and clarity, long lasting and in tune straight away out of the packet.

Just fitted a set of these to my Fylde and I have to say that I am dissapointed. They seemed weak and anaemic compared to the 4 year old, tarnished strings I replaced them with. The wound 2nd strings, which I though would be more substantial than unwound seconds seemed almost as if they were sitting lower in the nut slots. My pick seemed to keep missing them. I have a lot of respect for D'addario guitar strings and based on other reviews, I'm guessing that these strings suit some mandolins better than my Fylde flat top.

Fantastic strings, the wound A is a great improvement on the normal bare A. Also no noise when moving up and down, sound fantastic and give a nice warm tone, the best strings I've ever put on my Weber Bridger Mandolin.

Just fitted the strings to my mandolin it sounds superb with the warm tone I was seeking. The 'A' string is wound which creates the extra warmth in tone, very pleased , great product.
