Well the new fitted case with the latest axe precluded packing away the strap still attached. Answer: Schaller straplocks! The gold perfectly matched the other gold hardware and the quick release along with solid locking is a dream. On Barney Muller's experience, I'm keeping the old strap pins in the guitar case!

I do a stupid amount of gigs in Serre Chevalier (see www.serrechevalier.org) every year and my bass regularly falls off, but so far I have always caught it! Considering I have done over 1000 gigs with my bass, I'm not risking it anymore!

These straplocks are great at what they do. If attached correctly they work perfectly. However: the replacement button is smaller than standard buttons, meaning you can't really use another strap without the lock mechanism. Which is a GREAT PAIN if you forget your strap or have to use another one. Also if you lose the lock mechanisms (like I just have), its hard to use any other straps without having to buy them again!

Why buy an expensive guitar and then wait for that fateful moment when the strap lets go. It's either going to be in the middle of THAT solo or down a lift shaft. Either way, for the money, these are the most important upgrade you can make to your axe. So don't think about it anymore, just buy 'em.
