Perfect for a Jack White sort of bluesy tone.

I tried this out in a store having tried some much better fx pedals earlier that day. This pedal just isn't right. You only get distortion if you have the gain knob turned up about 60%, and even then you only get it when you really dig in with the pick. THis is a particular problem as i find that when i play chords, this is when i am playing the hardest, and this pedal makes chords distorted and muddy but single notes clean for my playing style. If you play with your fingers instead of a pick, i would not reccommend this pedal. Certainly not good for those who like a nice creamy, even and rounded distortion. The distortion itself wasn't great- i would use this as a boost pedal more than a distortion pedal, and the MXR Micro amp is better for that purpose anyway. I'm sure this pedal sounds good to those who have not tried proper pedals or decent tube amp overdrive, but unfortunately i have been spoilt by the alternatives and i just would not buy this in a million years.

This pedal delivers that big valve tone that those with transitor state amps always yearn for. Capable of expressing a smooth, clean yet beefy tone for those BB king moments, right to that 60's blues boom crunch and fuzz. This is one great versatile and quality addition to anyones set up.
