Although I can't imagine not having one now, I can't help but think the design could still be improved.
The handles for the cutter part of it are a bit strange and difficult to open in a hurry. Wish they were a bit more like normal handles (e.g. scissor arms/pliers, etc).
Cutting tool has also come quite loose and I actually can't tighten it so when it comes to the thinner strings it can only bend them...!

I've had one of these for about 6 years now and it is still going strong. The string cutter works as well as it ever has which is the part of the tool that I would have thought would pack in first. A great buy!

I bought this tool after Justin Sandercoe of justinguitar.com recommending it. It's excellent, cuts cleanly, winds smoothly and is small and compact.
Oh and delivery was amazingly quick, less than 24hrs!
Calling all mandolin players.
This is the first string winder I have found that fits traditional perloid mandolin buttons perfectly. If you're fed up with using string winders designed for guitars that don't quite fit, then get one of these and your job will become so much easier. Clever enclosed design of cutters also prevents you from accidentally cutting the wrong string when working in a tight space.

This is a fantastic little tool to have, the string clips and pin puller built in are fantastic, save carrying seperate wire cutters, pliers, and string winder. And save your bridge pins from the cold steel grip of those pliers!.

Had one for quite a while. It's a good job. Only thing I find is the cutting tool comes loose quite often, but can be tightened by hand.

anyone ever had that problem where you carry around a winder and a pair or wire cutters then when you come to re-string you can't find one or the other!
<br>Well buy one of these then you can lose both!!! Seriously though it's a great tool £3:00 cheaper than most shops too!

A great idea, executed well. The cutter is surprisingly good. Buy one now, and say goodbye to those frantic hunts for the wire cutters when you're in the middle of a restring!
