I've used flatwounds exclusively for a few years now but I've recently gone back to regular strings and these are excellent. Flatwounds are great for jazz but by their very nature have a reduced tone which is the opposite of what I want: I want the max tone and these give it without the twangy rock brilliance that single roundwounds deliver. They do feel less tensile than single wraps of the same guage and really project the native tone of hollow bodied guitars and mellow with playing without becoming dull (12's). Give them a go, you won't be disappointed.

I use these on my D Aquisto New Yorker there the best strings I have used on it.

These are great strings. Have tried D'Addario chromes and Thomastik, they are good too but look at the price difference, these also do the job superbly. Warm, mellow sound from my Hofner archtop and the tension seems to be less than other strings so great for playing the torture chords.
