DR Extra Life Red Devil Electric Strings

The K3™ coating is the first coating that players report, “sounds as
good or better than uncoated strings.” DR’s new, remarkable,
proprietary and patent pending K3™ Technology Coating is the first
coating that makes no apologizes and no excuses for not delivering
sound equal to uncoated strings. Players tell us that these strings
have more volume, less unwanted overtones, greater clarity and
articulation then standard, uncoated strings. Yet, they provide the
same protection due to corrosion and perspiration as well as increased
tone life that coated strings are known for.  These strings are Red Coated Electric Guitar Strings wound
on a hexagonal core.

Available Gauges;

RDE-9 - Lite                     09, 11, 16, 24, 32, 42.

I decided to try these strings out due to the fact they have a special coating which makes them last longer, i mainly play in drop C and i brought the 10-52 gauge, after re-stringing my guitar it sounded awful, the strings were very loose and sounded dull all i can say is DON'T buy these strings they may look nice but they sound horrible.

I'm a fan of DR Strings in general and decided to try a set of 'Red Devils' on my Fender Strat. I really wanted to like them but they just didn't cut it for me. First of all the unwound strings felt really skinny and I had to adjust the floating trem on my guitar to compensate for a reduction in string tension - compared to DR 'Pure Blues' in the same gauge. Then I just couldn't get used to the feel of the coating. The strings certainly felt slick and were easy to bend but the usual brightness in tone was lacking. In fact the overall sound was quite thin and subdued. After about 3 weeks, I gave up on them and went back to DR 'Pure Blues'. There's nothing inherently wrong with 'Red Devils'. They seem really well made and the coating didn't seem to wear much. They're just not for me.
