Re: Not for me.. Hi Ken, as a long time user I felt the need to point out that the 'plain' strings are actually Plated as opposed to coated, so they too last a lot longer than normal strings. I have been using Elixir electric strings for years now, and they have been an absolute blessing for me in my capacity as a gigging musician and as a teacher. I will never go back to 'ordinary' strings, these things save me time and money... after all, who likes changing strings!? I mention this because I feel your review misleads people as it is inaccurate. Lynden

I've been using these for around 3 years, and have saved ££s over using - say Ernie balls. The plain strings last as long as the rest in my experience, and the new "rust proofed" singles should allay your concerns. As they say, they sound like bedded in strings. Love 'em!
2 Not for me..

OK, so I fitted a set of Elixers with anticipation but then I realised that the 3 wound strings had the coating but the three unwound strings didn't. So the wound strings will last even longer, OK that is good... (though they sound slighty duller from new) but the unwound strings are the ones that usually go first. Also Elixers cost twice as much so.....I just don't get why this is a good thing. I'll buy 'normal' strings next time. So I'll give 'em 2 Strats for effort - but no banana. <br/>
