Helicore bass strings are available in Orchestral, Solo, Hybrid, and Pizzicato. Each one is designed with specific uses in mind. The Orchestral line has an excellent bow response and a warm sound. The Solo line is similar to the Orchestral line, except it's tuned one whole step higher. The Hybrid line has a good sustain for plucking, yet maintains a reasonable response when bowing, and is great for both. The Pizzicato line has a long sustain and a "growl" for pizzicato.

Helicore medium hybrid strings for me are the best for my basses including Yamaha SB100.I am an all round musician and the bowing capability is
complimentory to the pizzicato stuff.
I have two 3/4 violin shape models -
1) Hawkes Professor 1890 ,2) Bedingfield ( hand built) circa 1983. What a sound ! using good quality amplification incuding Fishman Platinum accoustic power.
