Pinz Brass Inlaid Acoustic Guitar Bridge Pins

Put simply Pinz are brass bridge pins for acoustic guitars. But they're more than just that.
They are a unique enhancement to your guitar.
Pinz started as blank but Pinz have recently added abalone/paua and mother of pearl inlaid versions.
Blank they reflect light nicely but the new inlaid versions look just beautiful, and can colour key to your instrument.

Abalone.
Call it Paua or Abalone, this beautiful natural shell is irridescent green shot through with black and occasional hints of pink and white. It's natural shell, so subject to wide pattern variation making each set unique. (InlaidPaua)
Mother of Pearl
Lovely white shell mostly uniform but with occasional hints of pink from certain angles. We weren't so keen until we put some in one particular guitar which MoP suited so well we are now entirely convinced ! (InlaidMoP)
Black Mother of Pearl
This black MoP is one of our latest lines. It's not so much black as a dark smoky grey, but is perfectly set off by the brass surround and looks deeply classy. The same as the white MoP the colour won't suit every guitar, but they are really lovely pins! (InlaidBlkMoP)

5 OK For Epipone EJ200CE - Amendment

After posting my previous comments on 14/07/2011, I have since decided to give these another go in my Epiphone as I didn't think I'd allowed long enough for things to settle down. I've now had them on for a couple of weeks, enough time for the strings to settle down and also for the guitar to develop a little and I can honestly say that they now work well. I had to relax the truss rod 1/4 turn as the Pinz seemed to exaggerate every slight fret buzz. Since then, it gets better every day, and the 'metallicy' buzzes decrease as strings lose their initial 'newness'. Don't go gigging with these on if you've just changed the strings. So, to sum up... Expensive, but look great, superbly made and they do increase sustain and overall brightness of tone - how much will probably depend on your guitar. With the Epiphone EJ200CE the difference is noticeable but not huge. Amended score to 5*
3 NOT For Epipone EJ200CE

Firstly, let me say that these pins are superbly made and look stunning, especially on my EJ200CE with gold hardware. That was the main reason I bought them as I thought the original ivory plastic pins supplied with the guitar were a bit naff. Unfortunately for me, they produced a lot of tinny sounding buzzing from the saddle end of business and some nasty corresponding harmonics, so after a couple of hours trying them out I've reverted back again (sadly) - an expensive mistake. I admit that in my case this may be because I play pretty heavily (using a thumbpick for fingerstyle stuff and a sharkfin plec for strummy stuff) and also have fairly light strings on (11-52 exlixirs) as I'm not a particularly 'muscular' player. I also tried them on my Martin D16 with similar results, so it may be that they simply don't work well on a guitar that already projects good harmonics and overtones. I have a set of brass pins of another make in an old Yamaha (laminate top folk guitar) and they really do work well, so don't necessarily let this put you off.

I bought these to go on my pre-owned epiphone EJ200 in sunburst. These were a last minute purchase before I had the guitar set up. These are possibly THE best quality after-market item I have bought. Build quality could not be any better. Don't waste time with other pins - you won't beat these on value for money & will remember the quality long after you've forgotten the price. It's a shame that most of the pin is inside the bridge as they are gorgous to look at! The m.o.p inlay matches perfectly with the guitar which now looks great. In terms of tone, they definately add a zing to the treble & no doubt add some punch to the volume which may not be to your liking. I had elixir 12's fitted at the set up & they sound crystal clear with a real depth of sound which you would not expect on what is a relatively cheap guitar. Will always buy these in the future - great product, great price.

I've got a Gibson J100 Xtra. It's a bit of a Susan Boyle compared to the J200's Katherine Jenkins, i.e it sounds amazing but it's not much to look at. I'd tried ordering other bridge pins, but they were all too small. After contacting the manufacturers, I decided to order a set of the Paua inlaid Pinz, mostly for cosmetic reasons. They're sensational. They look absolutely gorgeous, classy and striking without being garish, and really improve the look of the plain ol' J100. But the difference in the sound is hard to believe. The guitar has much more 'snap' about it, the separation of individual strings is really enhanced when fingerpicking, and strumming big chords is a delight, the old girl seems much more gutsy than before. I didn't think for a minute that the Pinz would affect the sound at all, but believe me, they really do, and very much for the better. Highly recommended!

It is my birthday next week, and my wife asked me what I wanted...well there's a new recording studio, a new Mercedes, a 1945 Gibson L5, a Patrick Eggle Kanuga, and a couple of prewar Martins....but she narrowed it down to about £30. So, I mentioned these PINZ things that looked rather nice. I ordered them on , I think, Tuesday lunchtime, and they arrived this morning (Wednesday) - don't know how these guys do it ! (Thanks SD). Anyway, I fitted them on my newish Larrivee SD50 TSB which is a mahog 12 fret dreadnaught that I use with the bluegrass band (www.hickoryjunction.co.uk). This guitar is frighteningly loud, and very bright, but ....but .....I yam one of those nuts who believe that hard/dense pins actually change the sound of a guitar, and I'm happy with my new sound ! ...and they look dead sexy ! Dammit I'll have to book another band photoshoot just to show 'em off ! Happy birthday to me ! Ol' Andy

i replaced the horrific plastic pins in my new gibson j45 with a set of these in mother of pearl. visually they match perfectly with the m.o.p. theme of the guitar and give it that "custom shop" look. sonically - WOOAHH!! i fitted them with old strings and the difference to my guitar was instant and remarkable. i'm almost scared to fit new strings, as i think i'll be resonated into a pulp with the first open g ;-) it has to be a 5-score from me, cos they made a hell of a difference to volume, sustain and tone. but i have a feeling i won't be using all six supplied ..... i plan to experiment to get the right balance of sound with new strings.
