About this manufacturer:

Gibson as a company has always wanted to be one better than the competition.  In 1935 they began work on a prototype pickup which later that year they installed on the Gibson ES-150 soon after endorsed by Charlie Christian as the best electric guitar ever in 1936.  After a production break through WWII Gibson innovation brought with it the revolutionary single coil P-90 Soapbar pickup which was installed on the first Les Paul’s released in 1952.  The top of the range 1954 Les Paul models came fitted with the McCarty tune-on-matic bridge in 1954 which is now installed as standard on all Gibson electric guitars.  More recently, in 2000, Gibson introduced the BurstBuckers pickups which capture the subtle variations in true humbucker tone.
